The Holden Colorado is here!
Holden New Zealand has released more details of the most eagerly anticipated ute launch of the year, the new Colorado, confirming the model will go on sale locally on September 10.
“There has been huge anticipation for this new ute, especially after the Southern Hemisphere debut of the Colorado Xtreme Concept at the National Agricultural Fieldays in June,” said the Managing Director of Holden New Zealand, Kristian Aquilina.
“The Xtreme was a pointer towards the direction of the new Colorado and following its reveal we’ve noticed a pronounced spike in web traffic as well as an uplift in dealer enquiry. Excitement and anticipation is certainly building and we’re looking forward to launching the new model with much fanfare as it represents a significant enhancement over the previous generation.”
Key to the new model are substantial developments in relation to technology and interior appointments, a greater range of accessories as well as advancements in ride and handling.
Holden engineers in Australia worked collaboratively with their counterparts from GM Brazil and GM Thailand and improved refinement and driveability with a range of chassis changes, including electric power steering as well as engine and transmission noise and vibration refinements.
“Driving a ute is no longer a compromise, in the case of the new Colorado it offers the best of both worlds in terms of sheer grunt and load carrying ability, but is now coupled with refinement levels more often expected of a passenger vehicle,” said Mr Aquilina.
The ute category is one of the most active segments in the new car market, consistently accounting for more than 20% of total vehicle sales every month.
“The current Holden Colorado has more than held its own against much newer competition and we expect this new release will attract new buyers to the brand as there is now a viable, credible alternative which doesn’t skimp on power, performance or specification,” said Mr Aquilina.
“Ute buyers demand a vehicle which can comfortably cope with dual duty of business transport during work time, then switch to family and lifestyle requirements after hours and on the weekend.
“There is also an increasing desire for people to head off the main road and into new adventures, often loaded with pushbikes, motorbikes, boat or a combination of such items. Thanks to all-wheel drive functionality, generous payload and impressive towing ability, the new Colorado is perfect for such applications.”
Final specification and pricing details of the new Holden Colorado will be released in the week leading up to the official launch date.
“The arrival of the new model underscores not only Holden’s long-term commitment to New Zealand, but also our promise to launch the very latest and greatest from the General Motors product portfolio now and into the future,” said Mr Aquilina.
“Colorado accounts for one of the 24 new models we intend to bring to market by 2020 and we look forward to introducing this and other exciting new models over the coming months.”
